I met Jane Gooddall.
I met Jane Gooddall. A lot of people might not be too impressed with that, but I'm a biologist so I was freaking the hell out. I was shaking and nervous as all get out. She signed an autograph for me, took a couple pictures with my group, was just fantastic all around. I liked the way she spoke to "her people", always giving suggestions instead of orders. She'd say something like "we should take the picture from this way, shouldn't we?" rather than "move over there." Very nice lady.

I've got a friend whose son has Asperger's Syndrome and is fascinated by Jane Goodall's work. She had the opportunity to take him to a symposium that Ms.Goodall was heading,and when she comes out, she gives a chimp greeting call..my friend's son gave an answering call,and she smiled,saying that she heard some of her kin in the audience, pointing to the boy. Made his day that his hero acknowledged him.
